Licensing to Industry

Georgia Tech is very proud of its history of successful technology transfer through licensing to industry. A license agreement grants a company permission to use an invention for commercial purposes. We have licensed our technologies to a wide array of industry partners, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small businesses.

The Office of Industry Engagement has partnered with the Enterprise Innovation Institute’s (EI²) Commercialization Services to facilitate the technology transfer process. When Georgia Tech researchers work with EI², it is important to keep Industry Engagement informed, as we hold the ultimate responsibility for conveying commercial rights to Georgia Tech intellectual property, determining fair market value, and negotiating and executing license agreements.

Once a licensing agreement is in place, Industry Engagement maintains a relationship with the licensee, ensures milestones are met, manages royalty payments, and provides any post-agreement services that may arise.
